Troop 125 Information Page

Troop Meetings

Regular troop meetings are Monday’s at 7:30pm to 9:00pm in the Fellowship Hall at Northwest Baptist Church. Always check the troop calendar for events and holidays. You can pick up a current copy of the calendar at one of the Scribe’s Tables or on the web site.

The Scribe’s Tables

We maintain two Scribe’s Tables at each troop meeting where you get signup forms for upcoming trips and other handouts and information on other upcoming events.  At the Adult Scribe’s Table in the Troop Committee Room, you can pay fees for those trips, as well as order troop t-shirts, nametags, & troop hats. We also have a Youth Scribe’s Table in the back of the troop meeting room, open at the beginning and end of each troop meeting

Pro-rated Dues

Our troop charges yearly dues (currently $100). This includes your national registration, Boy’s Life subscription, and accident insurance.  If you are transferring from a Cub Scout pack and starting after the first of the year, your dues will be pro-rated. The Adult Scribe’s table will be able to tell you the amount of your dues. Checks should be made out to BSA Troop 125 and can be paid at any regular troop meeting at the Adult Scribe’s table. This amount will need to be settled prior to your attendance at your first troop campout.  Annual dues for registered adults is $12.

Uniform

Troop 125 takes the BSA uniform very seriously. Please see the Troop 125 flyer explaining the Class A and Class B uniform.  Each new member will receive a troop hat; troop t-shirt, nametag, red shoulder loops, and set of troop numerals.  You will need to pay for the troop hat, nametag and t-shirt ($25) at the Adult Scribe’s Table during your first troop meeting. The red loops and numerals are part of your troop dues. The Jax Scout Shop is probably the best source for uniform parts (we can give you a catalog, and you can call in an order at (904)384-9256 or visit the shop at 521 S. Edgewood Ave.).  Other options are Brasingtons Trail Shop on NW 13th St. and Scrubs By Design, near North Florida Regional Hospital.  We also maintain a “uniform closet” with used uniforms – check at the Adult Scribe’s Table.  New members are expected to have their uniform ready by their first campout. If you are buying a new BSA shirt, it will come with the U.S. Flag already sewn on. You will need to purchase a North Florida Council strip. Troop 125 furnishes its members a set of troop numerals, patrol patches, rank patches, and position patches.

Scout Handbook

It is important that each scout has a copy of the Official Scout Handbook and that he bring it to each meeting. You can obtain a copy any Scout Shop. It is helpful to use the BSA nylon or similar book cover - this will keep the book in useable condition much longer. Write the Scout’s last name on the edges of the book to make it quick to identify.

The Troop 125 Newsletter and Website

The official Troop 125 Newsletter and Website is ready and is currently being developed.

Summer Camp

We’ll have a packet about our summer camp expedition available in the spring.  All scouts should plan to attend; it is very important for all first year scouts to have the summer camp experience.

Troop List server

Our troop is fortunate to have access to an e-mail distribution server. We have a dedicated troop list server that gives us the ability to send program updates and important troop news in a broadcast format to multiple e-mail accounts at once. Families with e-mail access will want to take advantage of this service. If we don’t have your e-mail address already, send a message to our Scoutmaster, Rick Yost, at ryost@chem.ufl.edu .
